The Boston Herald in Education program is raising $30,000 to provide local students with newspapers and educational tools. Since 1987 we have delivered free newspapers to thousands of classrooms throughout New England thanks to our readers and friends. Herald in Education brings real-world knowledge right into the classroom by using the newspaper to teach students civics, reading and writing skills, science and technology skills, financial literacy and so much more. Students get hands-on journalism experience in the Herald through our new Student Voices publishing initiative, and we offer teachers specialized curriculum and technology workshops – all at no cost. Now we need your help to continue the program.

Here’s what a few of our teachers have to say……..

“Many of my students bring the newspapers home to families to encourage the adults in their families to stay abreast of current events.”
- Lauren Walsh, Linden school

“I feel confident that all Athol High School sophomores are becoming more informed citizens in our community because of the Boston Herald in Education program.”
- Kathy Horrigan, Athol High school

“With your help we have reached so many students who would never have a chance to read the paper.”
– Rob Bayley, Leominster High School.

“Bringing the world to our students through the newspaper is so very important. It broadens their horizons from the safety of the classroom.”
- Linda Swallow, Qualters Middle School

“I just wanted to express my gratitude for your wonderful educational programs. I have used the materials both with my middle school and high school students, and I have found the materials to be well developed and extremely helpful. The Herald should receive a commendation for the work that it does in supporting educational initiatives. Keep up the good work!”
- Mary Mahoney, Wilmington High School
